Green Energy and Network Reliability: The Success Story of a Southeast Asian Airport’s Outdoor Monitoring System

In recent years, green energy and environmental protection have become critical issues, and more and more businesses and government agencies are making environmental protection one of their primary goals. Against this backdrop, a major airport in Southeast Asia has implemented a trial project that combines green energy with an outdoor surveillance system. The project aims to achieve both green energy and environmental protection goals while constructing an effective monitoring system that safeguards airport security.

The project relies primarily on solar panels as the power supply device, which is connected to a battery that further outputs 12V DC to meet the energy requirements of the network system. Due to the extensive area of the airport, a large number of IP cameras need to be installed to monitor every corner of the airport.

In this context, a network switch with a boost function and stable power supply will be an indispensable part of this project. The ICPS-3240-BE was selected as a critical component of the project. The ICPS-3240-BE switch has excellent boost capability, which can boost 12V DC to 48V and provide energy to IP cameras through the PoE function to achieve long-term, stable operation and high-quality video transmission goals.

To ensure system safety and reliability, the ICPS-3240-BE has Ring protocol to ensure stable operation of the network system. In the Ring protocol, a circular topology structure is formed between the network switches, and each switch is connected to the two switches before and after it. The advantage of the circular topology structure is that it has high reliability and fault tolerance. If one switch in the network fails, the data can bypass the faulty switch in another direction and reach its destination. This fault tolerance allows the network to maintain high availability even if one switch fails, and the network can still operate normally.

The ICPS-3240-BE has a rugged metal casing with an IP30 rating that can withstand impact and vibration, and has excellent heat dissipation performance. It has a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to 75°C, which ensure it to operate stably in high-temperature outdoor environments in tropical climates.

By using the ICPS-3240-BE, a network switch that can provide stable power supply and is suitable for outdoor environments, the airport has successfully realized a reliable outdoor monitoring system combined with green energy. This brings energy-saving and environmentally friendly technological innovation to the airport.
