Netzin’s Industrial PoE Switch Solution for Vietnam’s Highway Network Infrastructure

As the development of intelligent management of highways and the widespread adoption of ETC systems, network infrastructure has become a critical part of the highway system. On modern highways, it is necessary to connect many cameras, temperature and humidity sensors, traffic signal lights, and other equipment to the network to ensure the normal operation and safety of the highway. The information from these devices needs to be transmitted to the central control room in real-time, thus requiring a reliable network architecture to ensure fast and stable data transmission. The following is a sharing of the successful case of Netzin network switches on Vietnamese highways.

The core of this case is to use PoE network switches to provide power and data transmission to the electronic equipment on the gantry. Since PoE technology can supply power to devices over the same line as data transmission on the network cable, it eliminates the need for traditional power lines, reducing construction and maintenance costs. In this case, the network switch is installed in an outdoor cabinet next to the gantry, connected to electronic equipment on the gantry such as cameras, temperature and humidity sensors, smart streetlights, and etag sensors through RJ-45 cable, and supplies power to the electronic equipment on the gantry through PoE. On the other hand, data is transmitted to the central control room through fiber optic networks.

To meet the requirements of this case, the Netzin ICPS-3280-E has the following features:

Industrial-grade design: The Netzin switch uses an industrial-grade design with good protection levels and adaptability, which can operate stably in high-temperature outdoor environments.

PoE power supply function: The Netzin switch includes multiple PoE ports that comply with the IEEE 802.3af/at standards, providing power to various devices, thereby saving costs for device installation and maintenance.

Fiber optic network transmission: The Netzin switch has fiber optic ports, which can transmit data to the central control room several kilometers away through a fiber optic network. The transmission distance will be crucial in highway applications.

Managed switch: Netzin has comprehensive management functions and supports remote management and monitoring through SNMP interface. The management interface also includes PoE power supply management and monitoring functions, which can remotely control the power supply status of equipment.
